Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 299.01 to 298.17 points, a drop of 0.28 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.23 percent at 303.53 points against 304.24 points previously.
The equity market capitalization fell by XOF 17.43 billion (about US$28.9 million) to close at XOF 7,490 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,507 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 68,596 traded stocks relative to 165,915 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,340.714 million (against XOF 3,060.210 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 233 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE with 37,142 traded securities (accounted for about 54.2 percent of the total volume). FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,081.292 million contributing nearly 80.6 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 17.42 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.67.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 32 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 388,825. MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE gained 4.65 percent to trade at XOF 45,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 136,000 after gaining 3.82 percent. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE share price edged up by 3.70 percent to close at XOF 14,000 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 18,000 after gaining 2.86 percent.
In the downward district, CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 6.25 percent to end at XOF 30,000 as the biggest price losers and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL slumped by 3.12 percent to close at XOF 77,500. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 3.00 percent to close at XOF 29,100. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE lost 2.71 percent to end at XOF 251,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO shed off 1.92 percent to settle at XOF 51.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index dipped by 0.43 percent at 168.06 points but public utilities sector index rose by 0.06 percent to end at 829.99 points. Financial services sector index sagged by 2.62 percent to end at 106.79 points, but distribution sector index advanced by 0.75 percent to end at 595.77 points. The agriculture sector index rose by 1.60 percent to close at 187.10 points. The transportation sector index slumped by 2.62 percent to settle at 1,214.55 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 650.31 points.
